Lukas Swarts
Director
Lukas began his career in the grain industry with VKB in 1994, gaining deep expertise in local and international grain markets. He later served as Procurement Director at Premier Foods and held various executive roles before joining Ensign in 2013. With over 30 years of experience in logistics, grain trading, handling, storage, and warehousing, Lukas is a respected figure in South Africa’s agricultural sector. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Grain Handling Organization of South Africa (GOSA) and is dedicated to fostering strong relationships with local and international customers and business partners.
Dheerie Govender
Director
Dheerie Govender joined Ensign Shipping and Logistics in 2015 and has been a valued member of the team for over a decade, contributing significant expertise in risk and collateral management to his role as Director. His leadership has supported Ensign’s growth, improved operational efficiency, and strengthened client relationships. With a focus on innovative solutions and strategic insight, Dheerie helps drive Ensign’s success in the competitive shipping and logistics industry.
Desmond Blumfield
General Manager
Desmond is a Chartered Accountant (SA) by profession and has been uniquely affiliated with Logistics for the majority of his Career. He joined the Ensign Team as Group Financial Manager is 2016 and continues to add value to all aspects of our business. He was promoted to the position of General Manager in 2024.
Andries Grundlingh
Operations Manager
Andries is an expert in supply chain operations, having worked in this field for over 30 years. He has a strong background in financial management and has performed responsibilities of Administrative and Finance Manager, Logistics Manager, and Operations Manager at various multinational businesses prior to him having joined the Ensign team. He is also very experienced and knowledgeable in commodity trading through his work with SAFEX, grain handling, vessel discharge operations, as well as other bulk services. Andries joined Ensign in 2015 and has made an extremely valuable contribution managing major projects in Richards Bay, Harrismith and Maydon Wharf effortlessly.
Denver Govender
Execution Manager
Denver Govender, Execution Manager at Ensign Shipping and Logistics since 2023. Denver has over 20 years of experience in Shipping and Logistics specializing in imports, exports, warehousing, and transportation, with deep expertise in grain exports and sales. Denver leads high-performance teams and implements cutting-edge logistics technologies to enhance efficiency. He fosters strong vendor relationships and ensures compliance with industry regulations in fast-paced environments. His leadership in execution drives operational excellence and supports Ensign’s strategic growth objectives.
Sugan Govender
National Transport Manager
Sugan Govender began his tenure with the Ensign Group in 2022, initially serving as a Logistics Coordinator. Demonstrating strong leadership capabilities and a keen understanding of supply chain operations, he was subsequently promoted to the position of National Logistics Manager for Ensign Shipping & Logistics. In this capacity, he plays a pivotal role in overseeing strategic initiatives aimed at securing new business opportunities while simultaneously maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing clients to support sustained organizational growth.
